Formula

  • Age = comparison date − date of birth, counted in whole years, then whole months, then days
  • Total days = number of calendar days between the two dates
  • Traditional Korean age = current year − birth year + 1

How the Age Calculator works

Age is counted in completed years. You turn a year older on the anniversary of your birth, not before. The calculator counts whole years first, then whole months since the last birthday, then the days left.

Someone born on February 29 has a birthday only in leap years. In other years this calculator treats February 28 as the anniversary, which is the common convention.

The traditional Korean system counts a baby as 1 at birth and adds a year every January 1. South Korea adopted the international system for official use in 2023.

Worked example

A person born January 15, 1990 is exactly 36 years old on January 15, 2026. That is 432 months or 13,149 days, which includes nine leap days.
